Winter Preparation - GolfNext Driving Range
If your driving range closes for the winter, keep reading—we have a few requirements that need to be taken care of so everything runs smoothly.
Inside your payment terminal, there’s a small backup battery that keeps the memory running during minor power outages. Unfortunately, this battery has a limited lifespan, and we’ve seen several terminals fail to start up properly in spring if the system has been completely switched off over the winter.
To make sure this doesn’t happen to you, we’ve put together the following guidance and requirements for the upcoming winter:
1. Continuous Power Supply:
It’s essential to ensure your payment system has uninterrupted power all winter long. Whether your ball machine is stored indoors or outdoors, the power supply must stay active and stable at all times.
2. Constant Internet Connection:
Because the payment system receives regular updates, it needs a constant internet connection. This is true even if the ball machine is moved indoors. Often, our mobile data connection is enough, but if you can secure a stronger connection, that’s even better.
3. Protection Against Moisture:
For ball machines that remain outdoors over winter, make sure to cover the payment terminal properly with a bag or similar protection. This will prevent snow and sleet from getting in and causing damage to the card reader.
4. Setting Up Winter Closure:
You can set up a winter closure in the payment system, so it clearly shows that balls cannot be dispensed during this period.
We have to stress that the requirements MUST be adhered to. Unfortunately, the challegnges of last spring led to significant costs for all parties involved. Extraordinary costs resulting from non-compliance with the above-mentioned requirements may be charged.
We kindly ask for your full understanding and look forward to a smooth winter and a successful reopening next spring.
